چکیده

This paper provides a social welfare framework for coexistence of secondary users of spectrum in the presence of static primary users. We consider a formulation that captures spatial differences in available spectrum while considering general system topologies and utility functions: a collection of wireless sessions is considered under an arbitrary conflict graph that indicates the sessions which cannot transmit simultaneously on a common channel. It is assumed that each session has a utility associated with its spectrum utilization. A carrier sense multiple accessbased randomized channel selection technique is considered to maximize the resulting sum of utilities. A measurement-based gradient ascent method is used to improve the channel selection performance and to achieve local maxima of the social welfare. Distributed versions of the method are discussed and shown to outperform previously published work in a variety of simulation scenarios that study effects of primary user presence, varying secondary user density, varying total channel availability.

Changes in a Service Oriented Enterprise: A Game Theory Approach

Service Oriented Enterprises (SOEs) are subject to constant change and variation. In this paper, the changes are considered from an economic perspective based on service culture notion. Once a change is implemented, the costs of some member services may increase, whereas the costs of some other services may reduce. We construct a game theoretic model trying to capture the possible conflicting i...

A New Algorithm of Spectrum Allocation Based on the Balance between Supply and Demand in Cognitive Radio Networks

This paper investigates a new spectrum sharing algorithm based on price in cognitive radio networks. A supply and demand model between primary users and secondary users is established to decide the price of free spectrum leased by primary users. Considering the utility of primary users and the total bandwidth while deciding the price per bandwidth using supply and demand balance (the spectrum s...

Inter-Operator Spectrum Sharing from a Game Theoretical Perspective

We address the problem of spectrum sharing where competitive operators coexist in the same frequency band. First, we model this problem as a strategic non-cooperative game where operators simultaneously share the spectrum according to the Nash Equilibrium (NE). Given a set of channel realizations, several Nash equilibria exist which renders the outcome of the game unpredictable. Then, in a cogn...

Competitive Unlicensed Spectrum Sharing with Partial Information on Slow Fading Channels

We consider a slow fading multiuser environment with primary and secondary users. The secondary users have only partial knowledge of the channel and are subjected to transmitted power constraints by the primary users. Their communications are intrinsically affected by outage events. We propose and analyze two algorithms for joint rate and power allocation. In one algorithm, the secondary transm...

Joint Fair Resource Allocation for Opportunistic Spectrum Sharing in OFDM-based Cognitive Radio Networks

This paper considers a cooperative Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)-based cognitive radio network, where the primary system leases a fraction of its subcarriers to the secondary system in exchange for the secondary users (SUs) acting as decode-and-forward relays. Our aim is to determine an fair resource allocation strategy among the primary users and SUs as so to maximize the n...
